Focus on Checkpoint

Reg Gully, Member for Murrumba visits our Checkpoint Flexible Learning Program!

Last Tuesday (June 18), we were really happy to get a visit from Reg Gully MP, the member for Murrumba.

The Youth Space works across the whole of the Redcliffe Peninsula and provides other levels of support to the entire community of Moreton Bay, with a special focus on North Lakes which falls smack bang in the middle of Reg’s electorate.  Reg’s electorate also includes a portion of the Redcliffe Peninsula (Rothwell and Kippa-Ring).

Reg had a tour of our facility and spent some time with our Checkpoint students hearing about the work that program does to support young people who can’t be in a mainstream school for any number of reasons.

Our CEO had the pleasure of spending close to an hour just “shooting the breeze” with Reg and talking about the Youth Sector, the exciting new facility for young people in North Lakes which opens in September, and the Youth Space’s involvement in making that new youth centre a reality.

The staff, management committee and young people of the Youth Space send a BIG thank you to Reg for taking time out of his busy schedule to drop by and check in on how we’re going.
