Model of Care

The Redcliffe Youth Space is a welcoming and safe space for young people and their families, a space where meaningful engagement takes place; a space where people feel safe to challenge, learn and grow; a space where robust relationships are formed; a space where all people are valued and trust is cultivated.

The building and fostering of strong relationships with individuals, community, organisations and businesses can assist in the establishment of increased social mobility, opportunities for social inclusion, increased social capital and capacity building which can enable young people to build a sustainable and fulfilling future.

Our model of care

At the heart of our model of care is our young people

We work with young people that might otherwise not engage with or be seen by other services within the current service landscape. These young people often have complex trauma histories that present in a diverse range of ways.

Our programs and groups all share the goal of aiming to build social cohesion, through the building and strengthening of the social capital, social mobility and social inclusion of our young people. We do this by building relationships and working with families as much as young people.  Interventions are as broad and diverse as young people are and are tailored to them and their unique story and situation.

What types of expertise does the organisation have?

  • Engagement - inclusivity and persistence, ensuring young people don’t fall through the cracks

  • Youth culture - in its many forms, where culture is a shared identity or sense of belonging (e.g. LGBTQIA+, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, etc.)

  • The local community - as a place based service, that has been involved in and a key organisation located the Moreton Bay Region for over 20 years, we know, intimately, the place and the people

  • Poverty - in all its forms. We view poverty beyond a lack of financial resources, it can include a lack of emotional, mental, spiritual, physical, support system, role models, or knowledge resources

  • Trauma - embedded in our service delivery are trauma informed practices

  • Service systems - we advocate and navigate a diverse range of service systems, including health, housing, financial, and disability

  • Advocacy - we advocate at all levels, from a service level for our young people directly all the way to a systems level to ensure the voices of our young people are heard by our Government

What are the core elements of our organisation’s service delivery?

  • Relationships - we are always looking for ways to build and strengthen relationships at all levels of the organisation, from the relationships between our staff and the young people, through to the organisation’s relationship with the broader community

  • Service integration - we provide psychological and psychosocial service internally, but also work collaboratively with a range of other service providers across service systems.

  • Embedding ourselves in the community - by being a placed based service we increase access to services

  • Flexibility - we are able to tailor service delivery to the individual needs of every client and offer outreach to increase the reach of our programs
